FAQs

Providing dog sitting and walking services in Washington DC
  • Separation anxiety is a condition where a dog feels immense anxiety whenever its owner is not present. Isolation distress on the other hand is less personalized with the dog’s attachment being to human company, not an individual person. In other words, if your dog has isolation distress he/she is fine being left alone as long as they have human company. We have helped countless clients in supporting their dogs as they overcome these challenges and are well versed and experienced in the needs of dogs with these conditions.

  • In short, no. We serve all types of dogs with all types of needs. While separation anxiety is our specialty, you may need a dog sitter for when you’re gone overnight and could possibly need a dog walker to check in on your dog to break up the time he/she is left alone. Or maybe you need Drop-in Visits to give your dog a potty break and to feed them. Either way, separation anxiety or not, we are well equipped and happy to help. You can learn more about what we offer on the Services page of our website.

  • DC Dog Sitting offers dog sitting and dog walking in most DC zip codes with clients in all four quadrants of the city. Popular neighborhoods include Adams Morgan, Dupont Circle, Capitol Hill, Logan Circle, Navy Yard, Southwest Waterfront, NoMa, Eckington, Downtown and many more!

  • We get asked this question all the time and the answer is simple: We are an independent mobile business with low overhead costs, which keeps prices low and simultaneously cuts out the middleman. We aim to offer a comparable price to doggie daycare and Rover sitters while also providing a more personalized and higher quality service. Rover charges its sitters a 20% service fee in addition to a service fee charged to the dog owner for each booking. We do away with those catches with no fine print or hidden fees. The price you see is always the price you pay. Our goal is to be completely transparent with our owners so that we can provide the best possible service.

  • Need a recurring appointment? No problem. Contact us and we’ll be more than happy to set one up for you subject to availability.

  • Gone are the days of punitive and apathetic cancellation policies. We realize plans can change and allow you cancel your appointment free of charge. You can do so through our booking site or by contacting us directly. Although there is no fee for canceling, we do ask that if you do so, you give us at least 24 hours notice. For rescheduling an appointment, we ask that you do so at least an hour before your appointment.

  • Absolutely not. The only time we would have multiple dogs during a given appointment is if they are from the same household.

  • A New Dog Consultation is a meet and greet where we get introduced to you, your dog, and your home so that we can become acquainted with you and your dog’s needs. A New Dog Consultation is required before booking dog sitting and walking appointments, as well as a completed New Customer Registration Form. Learn more at dcdogsitting.com/book.

  • You are able to book 1-90 days in advance on our booking calendar. If you need to book something last minute, we are more than happy to accommodate requests subject to availability. For bookings more than 90 days out, feel free to submit an inquiry via email at info@dcdogsitting.com.

  • Each appointment made through our booking site (dcdogsitting.square.site) is automatically confirmed and guaranteed — any date and time you see as available is yours to reserve. You will receive text and email confirmation of your booking as soon as you submit your appointment request.

  • DC Dog Sitting LLC is insured through Pet Care Insurance to give our clients peace of mind and to make sure our clients (both human and dog!) are protected.
